Quick Overview
A confirmation statement is an annual filing that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company — directors, registered office, shareholders and so on — is still accurate. Every active UK company must file one, even if nothing has changed.
Who This Guide Is For
This guide is for directors of an existing UK company approaching their confirmation statement due date.
What You May Need
- Your company's current details on record at Companies House
- Confirmation of any changes since the last statement (or confirmation that nothing has changed)
Step-by-Step Process
- Check your review period. Every company has a 12-month review period, after which a confirmation statement is due.
- Review the company's details. Compare what's currently on the public register against your actual company information.
- Update anything that's changed. Some changes need to be filed separately before or alongside the confirmation statement.
- Submit the confirmation statement. This is generally filed online, within 14 days of the end of the review period.
Important Considerations
Filing a confirmation statement doesn't itself update company details — it confirms what's already on record. Separate filings are needed for actual changes (such as a new director or address). Failing to file can lead to the company being struck off the register.
