If you've formed a UK company, at some point you'll get a reminder about a "confirmation statement" — and if you've never filed one before, the name doesn't exactly explain itself.
It's a Check-In, Not an Update
A confirmation statement doesn't change anything about your company. It simply confirms that the information Companies House already holds — your registered office, directors, shareholders and so on — is still correct. Even if literally nothing has changed since last year, you still need to file it.
Every Company Has One Due
Each company gets a 12-month review period, and the confirmation statement is due shortly after that period ends. It's an annual thing, not a one-off.
What It Doesn't Do
Worth knowing: filing a confirmation statement won't update your details if something has actually changed. A new director, a new address — those need their own separate filings, done before or alongside the confirmation statement.
